Paris Fashion Week SS16 Edit

Valentino’s Spring Summer 16 collection is dedicated to raising the awareness of the current humanitarian crisis Italy is facing in offering refuge to African people migrating to escape awful circumstances in their own country. What fabulous inspiration for a range. The result is a beautiful fusion of African and Italian tradition. There are so many divine and intricate elements to this collection. These are my favourite pieces.

Chloe’s Spring Summer range was an ode to everlasting youth and not immediately recognisable as the romantic, care-free Chloé girl from past collections. After the show Clare Waight Keller explained,”this collection was about finding a new optimism.” She also said, “it stems from youth but it brings something really sophisticated with it too and that comes through with the track wear and mixing tangy and sweet colours. ” So we saw tracksuits, sporting stripes and carnival colours, the usual lace slips grounded with jogging bottoms, the signature cheesecloth maxi-dresses in shades of sherbet and low-slung harem pants. It was relaxed and easy and one of my favourite Spring Summer 16 collections.

Isabel Marant’s Spring Summer 16 collection is inspired by the colourful textiles of Rajasthan. She continues collection after collection to capture the insouciant, effortless Parisian vibe. Ethnic details feathered heavily, from the low-slung harem pants referencing the Middle East and the cropped flared jackets with frayed seams and long tassels  to the Baja-style skirt-cum-trousers and enveloping coats. Embroidery, bead and mirror embellishment, printed floaty dresses and chunky silver jewels….. the perfect bohemian expression and always so wearable. This is why season after season Isabel Marant’s collections continue to be such a significant portion of a buyers budget. Still my favourite label X
