Net-a-porter MBFWA

Net-a-porter MBFWA

Last week I attended MBFWA as a guest of NET-A-PORTER and watched the Camilla parade and attended a cocktail party to celebrate their 10 year relationship with Zimmermann. I was also treated to a private brunch at Double Bay with girls from NET-A-PORTER and truly, I was so impressed. To be honest I had thought that because they are such a big retail business that someone like me would be very insignificant and I couldn’t have been more incorrect. They knew all about me, are followers of this blog and really like my style. It was the ultimate compliment and I am so flattered.

I was thrilled to meet the personal shopping team, in particular Sabrina, who is my point of contact at NET-A-PORTER. We have emailed so many times and spoken on the phone so it was very nice to finally meet in person. I also met Kei who is the head of marketing Asia Pacific and Lisa who is the Fashion Director.

A brief rundown about NET-A-PORTER. It launched in June 2000 by Natalie Massenet working out of a small flat in Chelsea – London. She was the first person to take luxury brands online which was a big leap of faith. It did not take long before she had 15 staff, the bedrooms were stacked with stock and the bath was full of black sturdy boxes, wrapped in grosgrain ribbon. These boxes have become famous as consumers feel like they are receiving a gift when there purchase arrives.

Every fashion label now wants to be stocked at NET-A-PORTER – it is the premier luxury online shopping destination. It is well know for it’s exceptional customer service, express delivery speed worldwide shipping
to more than 170 countries including same-day delivery to Manhattan, London and Hong Kong, plus next-day delivery to the UK, US, Germany, France, Australia and Singapore,
and has easy returns.  NET-A-PORTER merged in October 2015 with the YOOX Group and is now the YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP.

NET-A-PORTER is the ultimate fashion success story. I love so many of the pieces they have on offer and they continue to seek new and up and coming labels. I am extremely grateful for my invitation and the time spent with the girls in Sydney at MBFWA.

A little bit of inside information. In Australia many of us pronounce NET-A-PORTER as it reads. Its actually NET-A-PORT-A.
