My Style Edit – Pink Sequins

My Style Edit – Pink Sequins

Sequins are everywhere this season. The new season sequin is not as look at me as the 80’s and doesn’t have to be associated with a fancy occasion.

There are many ways to wear sequins. Sequin skirts are very in this season so I suggest starting there. The best way to wear sequins is to mix your sequined piece with simpler pieces so wearing a button up shirt or a plain Tshirt with a sequin skirt is a great place to start.

Accessories decorated with sequins are a good way to add sequins to your summer wardrobe if you just want to dip your toes into this trend. This seasons sequins come in many different colours so experiment and don’t just stick to black, gold or silver.

You can also adopt this trend in full and wear one of this seasons gorgeous sequin dresses. When wearing a sequin dress all eyes will be on the dress so it is important to get the accessories right. Simple and elegant is my rule and maybe a change of texture. Today I have chosen an Edie Parker Pearl Acrylic Box Clutch that I bought at Bergdorf Goodman in New York and Saint Laurent Jane Bow Glitter Detail Sandals. My dress is Preen by Thornton Bregazzi  from Camargue. I have styled my dress today for evening wear.

Usually, a sequin dress is saved for special occasions and evenings out. However, you’ll get more use out of your dress if you find casual ways to style it. Wear a Tshirt underneath and a trainer for day time, throw on a denim jacket, and grunge style boots for dinner with friends, or slip a dark T-shirt over your frock and use the bottom portion of the dress as a skirt. For a more structured work event, wear your sequin dress with a fitted black blazer and ballet flats or a  closed in black mid heel.
