My Style Edit

Rewind back to the mid 1990s and the slip dress was one of the stylish staples found in many wardrobes. Kate Moss was a huge fan. While many people packed away the slip dress, for others it has remained an essential. Revived and shown in many Spring Summer 2016 shows like Celine, Saint Laurent and Calvin Klein, the slip dress is set to make a come back this season and will be one of this spring summer’s “IT” pieces.

Many celebrities have been seen out and about wearing a slip dress. This season’s slip dresses are updated and classier than the 90s versions. They now come with thicker straps, looser fabric and less skimpy cuts. In the 90’s, slip dresses were slinky and clinging, typically with spaghetti straps which made it difficult to wear a bra and not particularly  flattering to those of us who weren’t super slender and tall. This seasons offerings are far more wearable and flattering to more body shapes.

There are many ways to wear the slip dress. I will be wearing mine for evenings with heels and dressing it down for day time with a white tshirt underneath and a pair of strappy sandals. The slip dress will also work well paired with a pair of trainers and a long sleeve knit underneath or with leggings, tights or jeans. Check the following blog – The Slip Dress Edit–  for my selections currently available.
