Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney is Here!

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney is Here!

Fashion Week is upon us for 2016 but this year things have changed. We will no longer be viewing trends for spring summer 2016. Sydney will be the first city in the world to officially stage’ Resort Wear’ shows. Resort used to refer to collections designed for customers going on luxury summer holidays however now days they are created as a capsule wardrobe pieces between seasons. Some of the labels showing at MBFWS such as Tome, Discount Universe and Yeojin Bae will be available online straight after this weeks shows. Other labels will be available in store from September.

I am heading to Sydney on Wednesday afternoon. I can’t wait. I have been invited by Net-A-Porter and will attend the Camilla show on Wednesday morning and also to a cocktail party on Thursday night celebrating their 10 years relationship with one of my favourite labels Zimmermann. It’s going to be a busy few days …. I’m also attending a private viewing of Australian label Kaliver , having brunch with the Asia Pacific personal shopping manager for Net-A-Porter, watching a new generation swimwear parade and I am also hoping to catch Emma Mulholland’s runway show.

I’m very excited and will keep you posted on what I see on social media and my blog.

Last night Maticevski opened the show with a futuristic, romantic collection that explored a darker beauty. There was plenty of dark colours mixed in with whites, creams, ice blues and yellows. The show notes mentioned a matrix and we saw straps, twists and bustiers, chokers, handcuffs and gags in models mouths. The clothes were extravagant mixed in with Maticevski’s signature softness. An absolutely fabulous show from one of the gurus of the Australian Fashion Industry to open Mercedes Benz fashion week Australia.
