London Fashion Week Trends – Autumn Winter 2017

London Fashion Week Trends – Autumn Winter 2017

Catwalk Trends at London Fashion Week

The catwalks at London Fashion Week were full of wearable must have trends for Autumn 17. Some of the major trends I saw at the shows I attended were :

Velvet – Velvet was everywhere. Not just black velvet but a rainbow of colours. My favourite Velvet piece was a gorgeous pink maxi dress at Peter Pilotto

The New Sleeve – Big, puffed at the shoulder and extra long extending beyond the fingers

Florals – Head to toe Florals , especially the punk and deconstructed type. They were worked into velvets, brocades and embroidered on tulle.

Capes – The front runner for having Capes in their show was Burberry. They had 78 one off capes constructed from a variety of materials that took 22 seamstresses 4 months to make.

Sparkle and Shine – Mastered by Mary Katrantzou who presented gorgeous sheer gowns with shimmering embroidery and sequins.

Bright Cheerful Colours – Its always great to see an array of bright colours in Autums Winter Collections. Roland Mouret’s collection was full of beautiful block colours and Isa Arfen chose geometric prints . Some designers used small touches of bright colours and others showed head to toe.

Baggy Knitted Sweaters – Some were long and worn over midi skirts and others were cropped worn over long shirts. I particularly loved the way Burberry deconstructed and reworked one of their classic cable knit style knit sweaters.

Brocades – Decadent brocades were in every parade that I attended, some were shiny and shimmery and some were matt in colour, used in jackets, skirt and dresses.
