Carla Zampatti truly is an Australian legend and this year celebrates 50 years in fashion. I am very excited to be a guest at a lunch Carla is hosting at Victoria Park, Brisbane on Friday October the 9th. A highlight will be the fashion parade showcasing her favourite pieces from the last five decades borrowed from her archives. You can book tickets here.
Carla Zampatti, the label, was launched in 1965. She has always been and still is one of Australia’s most influential fashion designers and has iconic status both nationally and internationally.
Her signature styles make an appearance on the runway every season and include stove pipe pants, full skirts and crepe jackets. She seems to have something for every age group as she dresses woman ranging in ages from 17 to 70. Her Spring Summer 15 range is the perfect representation of her quest to make woman look good and feel beautiful.
She is renowned for using a black and white colour palette however to celebrate her 50th Anniversary we will see some bright colours in her collection. Indian Pink, Electric Blue and Buttercup yellow feature throughout the collection – a modern take on cult 80’s television show ‘Dynasty’. I am still a huge fan of her back and white pieces and the Onyx Crepe Trumpet Gown and the Onyx Pearl Pulse Print Serena Gown are my favourites this season.
At 72 years young, Carla has no plans to retire any time soon. Her two daughters work in the business which means she has so much more time to focus on what she loves best – designing. Keep up the fabulous work Carla!
